Hi there. Great question, and thanks for bringing it up!

The first paragraph uses liqueur and cigarettes as an example to set up a comparison. It’s a way of introducing the idea that, like these harmful products, junk food also has serious health consequences—but unlike liqueur and cigarettes, junk food often isn’t regulated in the same way. So while it might seem off-topic at first, it actually helps create a strong foundation for the argument by drawing a parallel that the reader can understand.

Hi Chris, I have one question regarding the first paragraph which confused me whether it is still relevant to the topic (junk food) since mentioned and explained mainly about ‘liqueur and cigarettes’. I would really appreciate your help in explaining it to all of us 🙂
