Hi there. Yes, IELTS Task 2 requires a minimum of 250 words, and that’s what we always encourage students to follow.

The essay you’re referring to may have been shortened slightly for teaching clarity or formatting, but you’re absolutely right that in the actual exam, falling below 250 words can negatively impact your Task Achievement score. We appreciate you pointing this out, and we’ll review it to make sure it aligns with official IELTS standards.

I was just wondering why the sample essay you provided above did not reach the required number of words, which is 250 words. I copied and pasted it on MS Word; unfortunately, it has only 234 words. You have repeatedly mentioned on your blog that each IELTS taker has to provide a minimum of 250 words since one of the criteria for Task 2 is “Task Achievement.”

Undoubtedly, many students rely on the resources and information that you have provided online, and we are so grateful for that. As a result, we just hope that all pieces of information from you are in line with what IELTS Cambridge and IDP have set for everybody. Thank you.

Hi there! Thanks for your comment. This is mostly just an example to show how to approach the task, but including an outline statement can help clarify the main points you’ll discuss. It’s not always strictly required, but it can make your essay more organized and easier to follow. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please feel free to contact us here: chris@ieltsadvantage.com

Hi there. The structure is mostly correct: you’ve paraphrased the question, mentioned both sides and clearly shared your opinion. Just a small tip: try using simpler wording like “growing trend” instead of “ever-increasing use” and “negative consequences” instead of “adverse ramifications” to make it sound more natural. Hi there. When the IELTS Task 2 question says “Discuss both sides of the argument” and doesn’t specifically ask for your opinion, your main goal is to objectively present both sides of the issue. In this case, you don’t need to include your personal opinion unless the question also says something like “and give your opinion.

It is often argued that this is a positive development, whilst others disagree and think it will lead to adverse ramifications. This essay will discuss both perspectives before explaining why I believe that an increase in technology is beneficial to students and teachers.

According to the given structure by you this is how an introduction should be writeen for this essay.

Correct and guide me please IF IT IS NOT RIGHT. Thank you
